Having a simple agenda will help a meeting.
Having an agenda at all is 100% better than having no agenda, even if it’s one you write on the white board at the beginning of the meeting!
In this example we’ll look at a very simple management team meeting agenda. Most meetings are about management of one sort or another so you should be able to apply it to your own circumstances.
A really simple management agenda in a business could look like this:
Management Meeting Agenda
- Customers
- Company
- New Projects
This is a really simple management meeting agenda.
First of all, under Customers, you cover off any actions and issues to do with paying customers – in any business they come first! That might be support issues, marketing, sales and order delivery.
If you’re a non-profit then you might want to split Customers out into Clients and Donors (with Clients being the beneficiaries of your charity and Donors being the people who pay for your work).
The Company agenda item gives you a chance to discuss internal issues – that can cover anything from staff, suppliers, services provided, any products, team issues, workplace, finance, legal and so on.
Finally its worth having a third section to discuss New Projects – new initiatives and propositions that you want to embark on. Without having a place for this you can easily get new projects getting mixed up with day to day running of the company issues.
By leaving New Projects to the end of the meeting it ensures that you spend most of your time on the important first item (Customers), the next amount of time on providing them the product or service they are paying for (Company).
While you may find this simple agenda is enough for your purposes you should also consider how you might write each agenda item and when you really need to get expert then consider our 15 steps to a great agenda checklist.
